Hesta Banks – single feature

Hesta Banks is stepping onto the scene with her debut single, ‘Follow the News’. Her silky smooth vocals are complimented by a slick, jazz-infused instrumental, further decorated with glossy harmonies and epic vocal runs. Hooks are deeply embedded and heavily populated throughout the track making it one of the catchiest releases we’ve heard this year. We are so impressed by this multi-talented rising artist! Did we mention those glossy harmonies?!

On the lyrics, Hesta states ‘based on an obsession with checking the news and social media, this song is a nod to the question society asks on a daily basis: do we trust everything we see on the internet without a second thought?’ With a quirkiness that Jacob Collier would be proud of, and lyricism Paul Simon would appreciate, Hesta has proven her musical intelligence and abilities in this harmony-filled, jazz-guitar saturated single.

From living in Northern England, via Auckland and Seattle, Hesta Banks has a huge amount of cultural experience under her belt. Combining these chapters of her life with classical music training, Hesta has recorded, mixed and mastered this song entirely in her bedroom at home, much like many other musicians during these times. But from under the rubble of adversity, ‘Follow the News’ is the first step Hesta Banks has taken to creative freedom, and is guaranteed to be a hit when released.
