Who is behind Making Miss Mogul?

A few words from Amy Jo (founder and President of Making Miss Mogul)

Hey Moguls. Where to start?! I'm Amy Jo and I'm just a normal girl from a seaside town in the North West of England. I'm a singer and a published songwriter, writing in a country/pop style. I love to tell stories with my music, and it has provided me with the most incredible experiences. I've performed shows to thousands of people, played the British County Music Festival, gained over 150,000 streams and won 'Best Newcomer' with Songs Behind the Music. I'm still on my journey in music, and I was surprised to learn that only 12% of published songwriters are women! In my career, I have had the support of the most amazing men and women. It has required a lot of networking and hard work, but I am eternally grateful to those individuals that have helped me along in my career. The more I have achieved in music, the more I have rubbed shoulders with incredible people, both behind-the-scenes and in front of the camera. I want to share these contacts with you, and provide similar opportunities for other women, just like me. I haven't forgotten what it was like to be a young woman starting out in the industry.

In fact, empowering and inspiring women is a huge passion of mine. I graduated with a First-class degree in History and Politics from the Open University, and I received my Master's in Gender, Peace and Security from the London School of Economics in 2024. In combining my multiple passions to create Making Miss Mogul, I hope to create a safe and comfortable space for you to share your dreams and chase them, and we'll be there to help you every step of the way.

One last story for you...

My Grandad played a pivotal role in my political interests. Unfortunately, he passed away when I was around 15 years old. Despite all of our lengthy discussions and playful political debates, he never shared his working history as managing director of Morecambe Press, which owned many local titles. More pertinently, I later discovered that he founded Trials Motocross News (TMX), which became 'Britain's biggest-selling Motorcycle Trials, Motocross and Endurance newspaper'. I always wondered where my interest in writing and community had come from, but the pieces came together the more I learned about his history.

Amazingly, when I was choosing the colours for the Making Miss Mogul brand, without a second thought I selected yellow and black. The colours just spoke to me. It turns out that yellow and black were the core colours in the TMX logo and brand. A freaky coincidence or a sign that he approves of the magazine?
